One of the oldest wine houses in the Champagne region was founded in 1760 by Reims judge François Delamotte. His son, Nicholas-Louis, who was also a Knight of the Order of Malta, took Jean-Baptiste Lanson as a partner and started in 1798. to use the Maltese cross as the Champagne Lanson logo. 1837 the name was changed to "Lanson et Cie". Champagne Lanson has been the official champagne supplier of the British royal family (The Royal Warrant) for more than 120 years and the main partner of the Wimbledon tennis tournament for more than 45 years. There are 57ha of private vineyards around the city of Reims, and the separate 16ha Domaine de la Malmaison vineyard is certified by Demeter, which cultivates biodynamic agriculture. With a fine dense bubble jet, medium intensity in color, pale yellow. The aroma is elegantly complex, silky, white flowers with peaches, nectarines and citrus fruits. The aroma needs some time to open up and adds some toasted hazelnuts, biscuit, ripe baked apples balanced by silky citrus freshness. The taste is dry, full mineral and fruity, as the taste opens you can feel dried yellow stone fruits, dried apples, biscuit, apricot and ripe citrus. The aftertaste is well balanced, long and fruity, complemented by the nuance of buttery bread and lightly roasted hazelnuts. The grapes come from the five Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs - Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly. The base wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels without malolactic fermentation. The second fermentation with autolysis in the bottle on lees lasts for 16 years. Made only in the best years, produced in a limited quantity of 14,017 pdl.
