Jules Gautret started making cognac in 1847 and until the second half of the 20th century was known as a small top producer both in France and in its neighboring countries. After World War II, Charantes was bought by the cooperative - Unicognac. The Gautret family has also been the mayor of Jonzac for over a century. Jules Gautret VS grapes: Ugni Blanc 90%, Folle Blanche and Colombard 10%. The grapes are harvested from three areas - Petit Champagne, Fins Bois and Bon Bois.
