In 1703, Sir John Gay Alleyne started making rum on the island of Barbados. According to this historic year, Mount Gay Rum is the oldest rum brand in the world. The rum that invented rum. The island of Barbados is made of coral, and the rum is made with local spring water that has been filtered through the coral. This makes Mount Gay rums unique in the world. The drink is made by single and double pot distillation and is aged in small oak barrels made in Kentucky, USA. Thanks to the very high quality ingredients, Mount Gay rums are highly appreciated and have received numerous gold medals in various drink evaluations. The aroma of Black Barrel is powerful and spicy, with a hint of burnt wood, followed by fruitiness. The taste is complex and rich, smoky. Powerful spicy, well-balanced vanilla and sweet caramel.

Aged for five years in a bourbon cask in Barbados, then a year in a cognac cask in Cognac, France, and an additional year in a used Malbec grape wine cask. The aroma is elegant and jammy, with hints of plum, coconut, vanilla, tobacco and refreshing mint. The taste has a more fruity character, you can feel coconut milk, chocolate, raspberry and banana. A very limited release, available only this year. There isn't and won't be another rum like it. Suitable for a collector.
