The winery was founded in 1850 by Chilean landowner Christian Lanz in honor of his wife. Viña Carmen is officially the oldest winery in Chile and the “rediscoverer” of the Carmenére berry variety, as the berry variety was identified in the Maipo wine year of Viña Carmen. Pale yellow in color with a greenish tint. The aroma is fruity and citrusy. You can feel ripe yellow stone fruits, apricots, yellow ripe apples. Fresh citrus fruits complement the end of the aroma. The taste is on the lighter side, fruity and juicy. Smell ripe yellow apples, pineapple, melon and fresh citrus fruits. Aftertaste creamy fruity with balanced citrus freshness. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and does not develop in oak barrels.
