Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color of the wine is bright, ruby red The aroma has hints of ripe red berries, ripe cherries, strawberries, plums and smokiness with a light peppery minerality. The aroma is enriched by a light animal note with a hint of cocoa. The taste is light and has an elegant berry character, you can feel overripe wild strawberries, red berries, pohl and ripe red stone fruits. A long and berry-like lush aftertaste is stimulated by light berry tannins. The grapes come from different growing areas in Chile, the wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and 20% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels
