Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color is ruby red of medium intensity. Fruity and elegant on the nose, with hints of overripe dark wild berries, wild strawberries, dark stone fruits, black cherries and wild berries and incense smoke. The concentrated berry aroma is enriched by an animal undertone. The taste is medium-bodied and has an elegant berry texture, you can feel dried dark stone fruits, wild berry jam, cherries, plums, the aftertaste is long, where the silky berryness of the wine lasts, complemented by the balanced smoky and spicy tannins. The grapes are hand-picked from the "El Tirangulo" and "Campo Lindo" vineyards, the wine is fermented in open stainless steel barrels. 70% of the wine develops for 14 months in small French oak barrels and 30% of the wine in large oak barrels, after mixing it ages in the bottle for 2 months.
