Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color is dark red with a violet shade The aroma is herbal and berry, You can smell overripe jammed field berries and sweet spices, pepper, tobacco leaves, bitter chocolate and licorice. The end of the aroma is complemented by herbal spiciness with a light cocoa note The taste is medium-bodied and complexly berry, with hints of black forest berries, dark plums and dried herbs with velvety berry tannins. Well balanced. The aftertaste is spicy-herbal, berry and with a soft berry park ending. The grapes are grown according to the principles of organic farming and come from the growing areas of Maule, Maipo, Limari and Colchagua Valley. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and 70% of the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
