Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color of the wine is pale yellow with a greenish tint The aroma is fresh and fruity, with hints of white flowers and ripe yellow fruits. Smell ripe yellow apples, pineapple and fresh citrus fruits. The palate is medium bodied and fruity soft with ripe tropical fruits, pineapple, melon and citrus acidity with lighter sweet spices. The aftertaste is medium length and fruity citrus. The grapes are hand-picked from the Los Boldos Tapihue winery, the wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels, and 10% of the wine is aged for 6 months in French oak barrels.
