Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color is bright yellow with a slight greenish tint In the aroma, the wine is freshly fruity with hints of white flowers and ripe yellow fruits. You can smell yellow apples, pineapple and some sweet spices. Ripe citrus with a mineral undertone is added to the end of the aroma. The palate is medium bodied, fruity round and lushly juicy with ripe tropical fruit, pineapple, melon and mineral citrus acidity with a light sweet spiciness. The aftertaste is long, fruity with a lively citrus finish. The berries are picked from the El Cetinela estate in the Quebrada Alta vineyard, the wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels, 20% of the wine develops for 6 months in French oak barrels.
