Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color of the wine is lively, bright, ruby red Fruity and elegant on the nose, with hints of overripe dark wild berries, wild strawberries, dark stone fruits, black cherries and wild berries and smoke. The concentrated berry aroma is enriched by an animal undertone. The taste is medium-bodied and has a berry texture, you can feel dried dark stone fruits, wild berry jam, dark cherries, plums, the aftertaste is long, where the silky berryness of the wine lasts, complemented by a balanced smoky and spicy tannin. The berries are hand-picked from the clay-limestone vineyard of Viento Mar on the Campo Lindo estate, 15 km from the Pacific coast. The wine is fermented in open stainless steel barrels, 80% of the wine develops for 12 months in medium-roasted French oak barrels, 20% of the wine in large oak barrels.
