Viña Cono Sur is a young and modern winery founded as a subsidiary of Chile's largest winery Concha y Toro in 1993 in the Colchagua Valley south of Santiago. The name Cono Sur translates as "cone of the south", to resemble the cone-like shape of the South American continent. The winery has over 1,800ha of vineyards in several different regions of Chile. Viña Cono Suri's motto: "No family trees, no dusty bottles, just quality wine". The color of the wine is ruby red of medium intensity The aroma has hints of dark forest berries, plus blackcurrants, dark plums and a light peppery spiciness. The taste is medium-bodied and berry lively. Feel overripe ripe dark stone fruits, dark wild berries and black currants. in the aftertaste, a light spicy tannicity adds structure. The grapes come from different regions of Chile, the wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels, is malolactically fermented and does not develop in oak barrels.
