One of the oldest and most famous wine estates in Piedmont. Founded by King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy in Serralunga d´Alba in 1858. The king's son, Count Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri of Mirafori, started making more serious wine in 1878. Vineyards today total 100ha. Today, the winery is owned by the Farinetti family. Pale yellow in color with a greenish undertone. The aroma is fruity, fresh and slightly floral. You can smell ripe white stone fruits, fresh citrus fruits, fresh pears, white flowers and some almond bark. The palate is dry, medium-bodied and crisply fruity with hints of fresh yellow fruit, apricots, sea buckthorn berries and peaches with lively mineral acidity. The grapes are picked from the sandy, clay-limestone Roero hillsides at an altitude of 200-350m above sea level, the berries are picked by hand, 50% of the berries are pressed in whole bunches and the wine is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel barrels and develops on yeast for 3-4 months.
