One of the oldest and most famous wine estates in Piedmont. Founded by King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy in Serralunga d´Alba in 1858. The king's son, Count Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri of Mirafori, started making more serious wine in 1878. Vineyards today total 100ha. Today, the winery is owned by the Farinetti family. Medium intensity garnet red in color. The aroma is more intense than average, you can feel ripe red berries, dark stone fruits, cherries and plums. Field berries and juniper berries are added with structural wood spices. The taste is dry, full-bodied, more intense than average and with berry tannins. Feel ripe dark stone fruits, morels and plums, wild berries and structured tannic spiciness. The aftertaste is elegant, long and berry-spicy, complemented by dark chocolate, cloves and cardamom. The grapes are hand-picked from the limestone slopes of the Langhe hillside in the Serralunga d'Alba region. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and matures in large concrete barrels for 12 months and 24 months in large French oak barrels.
