Bodegas Piqueras is a small family-owned winery founded in 1915 that has grown to become one of the most important wineries in Almansa DO today. The color is more intense than average, ruby red with a violet undertone. The aroma is intense and berry dense, with ripe black forest berries, blueberries, overripe field berries, juniper berries, slightly dried herbs with allspice and sweet baker's spices. The taste is dry and full of berries. You can feel overripe blueberries, wild berry jam, dark overripe stone fruit, cocoa and some dark chocolate with a velvety spiciness. The aftertaste is long, berry with balanced tannins and a little spicy. The grapes are picked from the Finca Los Timonares vineyard with limestone soil located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, the berries are fermented separately with wild yeast, then the wine is blended and matures for 14 months in 500L French oak barrels. The wine is unfiltered and may contain a slight sediment.
