Today, one of Australia's best-known and largest wine producers is also a pioneer of the wine industry in Australia. Hardys was the first Australian wine producer to export its wines to Great Britain in 1857, the most important wine market in the world at the time. The color is ruby red with a slight violet undertone. The aroma is berry compact, with notes of blackcurrants, sweet cherries, ripe plums, bitter chocolate, cloves and sweet spices. The taste is berry full and juicy, dominated by black overripe berries. Feel overripe blackcurrants, blueberries and wild berry jam with structural tannins. Mint, bitter chocolate and black pepper add to the aftertaste. The berries come from different growing areas in south-eastern Australia. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and 70% of the wine develops for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
