Orion Wines is a commercial winery founded in 2010 by 3 entrepreneurial people: Alessandro Michelon, Luca Pomaro and Elena Ciurletti in the Trento region of Northern Italy, using grapes grown by local farmers and collaborators in various Italian wine regions. The color of the wine is deep, intense ruby red. Overripe black forest berries, dried dark plums with lively berry park and sweet spiciness can be felt in the aroma. The taste of a fuller-than-average wine shows ripe dark wild berries, wild berries and blueberry jam, as well as ripe dark plums and sweet dark cherries, to which is added crushed black pepper with a light thyme note, the aftertaste is medium-long and berry lively. The grapes are picked from the provinces of Apulia, Manduria and Taranto. When the berries have ripened, the vineyard uses the "il giro del picciolo" technique, i.e. the stem of the bunches of berries is twisted so that no more nutrients reach the grapes, then the berries are left to dry on the vines for 14 days (appassimento). The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels, and 25% of the wine develops for 6 months in French and American white oak barrels.
