The appearance is more intense ruby red than average The aroma is intense and berry spicy. Feel overripe dark stone fruits, ripe wild berries, black currants, cloves and black pepper with cocoa, dark chocolate and baker's spices. The taste is fuller than average, dry and berry structured. Feel overripe black forest berries, chokeberries, ripe dark stone fruits and black currants. The aftertaste is intense and berry spicy with moderate tannins. The grapes are grown according to organic farming principles, the wine ferments in large oak barrels, develops for 18 months in 225L American white oak barrels and then ages in the bottle for 18 months. The wines are not filtered before bottling. The winery was founded by agricultural machinery salesman Alejandro Fernández and his wife Esperanza Rivera in 1972 in the town of Pesquera de Duero. The first vintage Tinto Pesquerat was made in 1975 and immediately achieved iconic status. Together with its famous neighbor Vega Sicilia, it was the impetus for the DO status of the Ribera del Duero region in 1982. Today the family owns more than 500ha of vineyards divided between four estates: Pesquera (1972) and Condado de Haza (1987) in Ribera del Duero, Dehesa la Granja (1998) in Castilla-y-Leon and El Vínculo (1999) in La Mancha. The winery is run by the third generation of the family - Alejandro and Esperanza's grandchildren.
