One of the largest wine houses in Rioja, founded in 1890 after the Phylloxera epidemic by a Frenchman of Bordeaux origin, Frederick Saurat Anglade, and his Spanish partners. Hence the name - Bodegas Franco-Espańolas - French-Spanish Wine House. Since 1983, Eguizábal has been owned by the family. Dark ruby red in color with a slight violet undertone. Ripe dark forest berries, black currants and dark stone fruits can be felt in the aroma, to which are added coffee beans and a little sweet spices. The palate is berry lively and medium-bodied, dominated by dark stone fruit and black forest berries. The aftertaste is enhanced by a silky juicy berry park with a light chocolate note and a slightly blushing spiciness. The wine is fermented in stainless steel barrels and aged for 12 months in medium-roasted American oak barrels.
