The history of Zenato begins in 1960, when Sergio Zenato started winemaking in the village of San Benedetto di Lugana, on the southern shore of Lake Garda. Over time, Zenato's activities expanded to the Valpolicella area, where the Costalunga estate in the Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella area was acquired. Today, Sergio's children, Alberto and Nadia, manage the work of the winery, having expanded the berry plantations to 95 hectares, of which 4ha are also in Tuscany, in the Bolgheri region, and exporting wine to 65 countries. The appearance is more intense than average, ruby red with a violet glow The aroma is more intense than average and berry dense. There are ripe dark stone fruits, morels, dark wild berries, blueberries and wild berries and dried herbs with baker's spices. The taste is fuller than average and structurally berry-spicy, reflecting the aroma of the wine. You can feel overripe dark stone fruit, dried black plums, black wild berries and wild berries with a little bit of pungent spiciness. The aftertaste is longer than average and berry lively with moderate tannins and baker's spices. The berries are picked from different south-facing hillsides 250m above sea level, in the Valpolicella area. The wine ferments in stainless steel barrels and after fermentation is kept on lees in barrels until January. The wine is then fermented a second time with the berry skins used to make Amarone. After that, the wine develops for 18 months in small 225L oak barrels and matures for 6 months in the bottle.
