Jura 18 YO Single Malt whiskey is matured for 18 years in American white oak bourbon barrels and finished in Bordeaux Grand Cru Classe barrique red wine barrels. Jura 18YO Single Malt whiskey is brownish, amber in color. The aroma is complex and multifaceted, with ripe tropical fruits, toffee, woody spices, peppermint, nuts, cinnamon and dark chocolate with a light smoke note. The palate is dry and full-bodied with a hint of goij berries, dried wild berries and cocoa with woody spices. The Isle of Jura lies between the west coast of Scotland and the Isle of Islay. There is only one road, one pub, one shop, one community and one whiskey still on this island. The natives of the island are called "Diurachs", which is their Celtic name. The island's name comes from the Celtic language Diùra, which in turn is believed to derive from the Vikings - Old Norse, meaning deer - "deer island". Jura Distillery was founded in 1810, restored in 1963, and Single Malt single malt whiskeys, which are still known by the island's legends, are still produced there.
